OLDROOT
OLDROOT / START HERE

ENTER THE WORLD.

OldRoot is a growing superhero universe built around distinct origins, memorable visual identities, and characters who do not all trace back to one cosmic explanation.

01 / THE PREMISE

The world in sixty seconds.

Enough context to start exploring without reading a continuity encyclopedia first.

Genesis opened the door. It did not build the whole house.

St. Dorsey is the launchpad for the modern public superhuman age, but OldRoot is larger than one incident. Genesis was an accidental Abyron catastrophe that changed a small, finite number of survivors into Ascendants. Their exact total is not treated as public in-universe knowledge.

Other heroes, villains, anomalies, technologies, experiments, artifacts, magic systems, aliens, and future forces can come from entirely different origins.

02 / HOW OLDROOT READS

The OldRoot Standard.

OldRoot is not locked to a traditional twenty-page comic-book rhythm.

Writing tells the complete story. Art defines the moments that deserve to become iconic.

OldRoot stories use prose to carry the full narrative, interiority, and detail, while selective illustrated sequences or collage-style comic pages take over for the moments that should hit visually. The format can breathe like a novel and detonate like a comic when the story earns it.

Prose

The complete narrative remains readable without requiring every beat to be illustrated.

Visual sequences

Illustration is concentrated around reveals, transformations, fights, and iconic moments.

Continuity

Character dossiers, locations, events, and stories remain connected through one shared continuity.

05 / CORE CONCEPTS

A few things worth knowing early.

Genesis was an accident

No villain, invasion, missile, theft, or deliberate superhuman experiment caused Saint Dorsey. A newly discovered element and reasonable safety systems combined in exactly the wrong way. Read Genesis →

Abyron is Element 126

Ax-126 is a naturally occurring superheavy element discovered by Hampton Dynamics, not a magic rock or generic reality-warping substance. Open Abyron → · Read its discovery →

Ascendants are finite

True Ascendants belong specifically to the original Genesis event. Their manifestations can appear long after Saint Dorsey, and the public does not know an exact total.

OPI is not a winner button

OPI measures individual capabilities. There is no canonical overall OPI score and no single fight-winning number.
