MAX CORBETT
Senior Mechatronics & Exoskeleton Controls Engineer
He builds technology to help people move through the world—not to make the world afraid of them.
Overview
Max Corbett is a 31-year-old Boston-area engineer specializing in mechatronics, exoskeleton controls, and human-assisted mobility. A senior engineer at George Ledger's technology company, he becomes an important technical collaborator in Mandy Ledger / Remedie's story.
Max is a civilian. He has no established extraordinary powers, secret combat identity, or superhero role. His contribution comes from sound engineering, persistence, a practical understanding of moving bodies, and the difficult decisions that follow when useful technology enters dangerous hands.
Engineering Philosophy
Max designs augmentation around the person using it. The goal is lighter, safer, more natural, and more accessible mobility—not making a person disappear inside a machine. Range of motion, gait response, load transfer, actuator behavior, control stability, and human comfort are problems to solve together.
He is equally at home reading diagnostic traces and working at the bench. Calculations matter, but so do a component's weight, a joint's actual tolerance, and whether a person can move naturally in the finished system.
Personality
Calm, dryly funny, intelligent, and stubborn, Max tends to understate both his confidence and his frustration. He can remain focused under pressure without turning into a larger-than-life action hero.
He works through problems methodically, but is not a detached machine himself. His humor, patience, and insistence on practical results give him a grounded presence amid OldRoot's more extraordinary personalities.
Connection to Mandy Ledger / Remedie
Max works within the same broader technological world as Mandy's father, George Ledger, and becomes a crucial engineering presence as Mandy's wearable systems take shape. His expertise is especially relevant to external support structures, mobility assistance, and human-machine controls.
Mandy's existing record establishes that a Ledger-company engineer moves from technical collaborator to trusted confidant as her mission and the risks surrounding the company become clearer. Max's role belongs to that grounded, human side of her story; he should not be presented as the inventor of Remedie's decisions, a substitute for her agency, or a second costumed operative.
Appearance & Everyday Details
Max is approximately 5'11″–6'0″, with a lean-average build, slightly messy dark brown wavy hair, brown or hazel eyes, and an intelligent, approachable expression. His practical clothes tend toward dark work shirts, rolled sleeves, overshirts, utility trousers, and sturdy boots. He often looks as though he has been at the workshop longer than he intended.
An old mechanical wristwatch is part of his personal style. It is not a superhero device or emblem. His look remains civilian, grounded, and deliberately free of armor or tactical combat equipment.
Character Boundaries
Max is human and unenhanced, with no creator-approved numeric OPI record. His combat capabilities, exact birth date, weight, specific project history, and employer's public corporate name are not established here. The wordmark “Horizon Dynamics” appearing in one illustrative workshop image is not treated as a confirmed company name.
No official emblem has been approved for Max, and none is assigned to his registry entry. He is an important supporting character because of what he does and whom he helps—not because of a superhero aesthetic.
