AMARI RAZMAN
Field tracker · Reconnaissance · Brooklyn
Some people hunt for a fight. Amari Razman is the person sent to find the people who have already disappeared—and to make sure everybody gets home.
Overview
Amari Razman is a 33-year-old African American, unenhanced human field operative from Brooklyn, New York. She is a recurring supporting figure in OldRoot’s developing post-Genesis hero-recruitment operation. When someone dangerous or extraordinary vanishes, Amari is one of the people trusted to establish where they went.
Her advantages are not supernatural. They come from careful observation, patience, pursuit, reconnaissance, field investigation, combat experience and the ability to reconstruct what people did from the details they leave behind. She works alongside people who may possess abilities far beyond her own, but remains effective through planning, discipline and sharp judgment.
Amari is authoritative without cruelty and professional without being cold. She is fundamentally ethical and protective. For her, carelessness is dangerous because it gets people hurt.
Field Background
Amari grew up in Brooklyn, New York, and later built substantial experience in conflict environments, field reconnaissance, intelligence gathering and the pursuit of hard-to-find individuals. Her career gradually centered on locating people who were actively trying to avoid detection.
Her field experience shows in the way she stays composed under pressure, reads an environment, and pursues a lead through difficult terrain or dangerous circumstances.
As new empowered individuals begin disappearing, hiding in civilian populations, moving through criminal networks or crossing borders after Genesis, her established human expertise becomes more valuable, not less.
Tracking & Reconnaissance
Amari’s specialty is locating people who do not want to be found. She studies movement patterns, routes, staging areas, environmental disturbances, human habits and small signs that a place has recently been occupied. Where others see a dead end, she looks for the decision the missing person must have made next.
Her work can include surveillance, stealth, intelligence gathering, threat assessment, field investigation, route reconstruction and identifying likely hiding places or escape corridors. Her field presence is quiet and deliberate: she watches first and talks when there is something worth saying.
There is no supernatural tracking sense. Amari can lose a target, misread evidence or be outmatched by someone with unusual powers. She counters those limitations with preparation, teamwork and adaptability rather than mysterious enhancements.
Combat & Field Judgment
Amari is trained and capable with firearms, tactical movement, close-range combat, cover, stealth and reconnaissance in hostile conditions. She has legitimate battlefield and conflict-zone experience, but her defining skill is not overwhelming an opponent. It is finding them, understanding the surroundings and helping a team act with the right information.
Her capabilities sit in the same broad human-operational neighborhood as Latch Boswell, without duplicating his strengths. Latch is more strongly defined by marksmanship, weapons versatility, counter-fighting and direct tactical combat. Amari is more strongly defined by tracking, pursuit, situational awareness and locating a target.
Neither is superhuman. In a world of powered threats, Amari relies on professional assessment instead of pretending human skill makes her invincible.
Temperament & Ethics
Controlled, observant, blunt and demanding, Amari does not need to shout to take command of a room. Her authority comes from competence and the expectation that everyone around her take the risks seriously. She has little patience for incompetence during dangerous operations, but she does not confuse severity with cruelty.
She is composed, protective and difficult to intimidate. Around people she trusts, she can loosen her guard and reveal a dry, understated sense of humor. She never becomes a caricature of constant anger, nor does she abruptly stop being the thoughtful professional her teammates depend on.
At the center of her ethics is a simple conviction: careless decisions get people hurt. That principle shapes how she plans, communicates and protects civilians and teammates.
Post-Genesis Recruitment
After Genesis, the unnamed organizer coordinating an international hero-recruitment operation recognizes that locating an empowered individual may be harder than confronting one. Traditional investigative methods can fail when a target disappears across borders, vanishes into an urban population or retreats to a remote area.
Amari is recruited after Latch Boswell and joins the growing warehouse-based organization as a field tracker, intelligence and reconnaissance specialist. Her work includes locating missing targets, surveying areas, investigating dangerous empowered individuals and helping the organization respond before a situation escalates.
Working with Latch
Amari and Latch Boswell quickly recognize in each other a level of field competence, composure and familiarity with dangerous assignments that few outsiders share. They work well together under operational pressure. Their approaches differ, but those differences make them effective partners rather than constant adversaries.
Latch is sociable, openly charismatic and much quicker to joke. Amari is reserved, exacting and inclined toward humor delivered with a straight face. He can coax reactions from her that other people rarely see; she can end his nonsense with a look. Neither sacrifices professionalism when a mission becomes serious.
Mutual attraction leads to an initially casual relationship. Over time, their connection deepens into genuine affection and an eventual romance. Their shared understanding of the work matters as much as the chemistry: they trust each other, cover each other and become better teammates together.
Visual Identity
Amari is 5′8″, 162 pounds and athletic, with practical field strength and mobility rather than exaggerated superhero proportions. She has dark brown skin, strong brows, observant eyes and long, neatly structured black braids. Some braids carry subtle metallic accents, and a few frame her face.
Her wardrobe favors dark charcoal and deep olive reconnaissance gear, black tactical boots, a streamlined jacket, practical utility storage and restrained burgundy detailing. The clothing is designed for movement and observation rather than heavy infantry combat. Her appearance communicates professional confidence through practical fieldwear rather than heavy armor or theatrical superhero design.
OldRoot Power Index
Amari's eleven official baseline ratings reflect her unenhanced abilities. Her official OldRoot Power Index is 10.02, based on a total of 110.2 divided by eleven. She remains fully human and unenhanced.
Her overall score is close to Latch Boswell at 10.15, but her Senses and Intellect rate higher while Latch's Combat is higher.
